Maintenance Meals

For me, I am thinking that I need to view every meal as a "maintenance meal".  Yes, I can splurge when I give myself permission every once in a (long) while, but for the most part, I aim to have my meals:

1. Small in portion
2. Balanced in healthy fats, protein, complex carbs & nutrition
3. Every 3 hours or so

And to drink LOTS of water.  Water is SO KEY to losing weight and maintaining a good weight and health!  The days I've forgotten this and not had much water have really affected my hunger level as well as my energy level.  I am trying to keep that water bottle by me at all times and chug away!

Here is a one of my meals from last week:

A little cup of low fat cottage cheese with fresh pineapple along with half of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on my own whole grain wheat bread.   Yum!  (No, I did not eat the sandwich with the fork!)

What are your favorite "maintenance" type meals you can share with me?

I would so eat your meal. I love fruit and cottage cheese. I like just about anything with cottage cheese.

One of my favorites meals, I steam cauliflower til it is really soft. Then mash it and throw in a couple of laughing cows and crumbled up turkey bacon. Then I smash it on a foil lined cookie sheet and broil it. Sometimes I will even add sliced up baby bells.I will eat on this for a couple of days. YUUUUUUMMMMMMMYYYY

I'm not to maintenance yet, about 2 months left or so. (Take Shape for Life)

I like the thought about each meal being a "maintenance meal" and your requirements.

Looking forward to reading more ideas. Thanks for blogging about this.

I'm not there yet either though I love reading what you're eating and how you're doing. I'll learn when it's time and as I go too.
Take care Margene. I did my race today, 5K in 33:48. My fastest time yet and I ran the full race except a 10 second walking when I need to catch my breath. Happy am I.
Take care and have a blessed weekend.

Let me join the "not there" club. But I love hear how you're doing it. It's a good reminder for us all...especially about the water. I've noticed the same thing on days when I don't have enough.

Keep it up Margene...I'm so proud of you!!!
